Raccoon in my backyard.?

So I saw this really unhealthy looking raccoon that look malnourished so I set some cat food out for him and he is eating it. I have only actually seen him eating it once. Is cat food bad for them? Is it bad that I feed him? He hasn't tried to mess with are garbage since I have been feeding him.
