Help on Red dead redemption challenge?

Hey guys...need your help.....im doing master hunter challenge 4...i found the 3 armadillos but everytime I kill a boar i never get the tusks just the meat...is there a problem...am I using a gun that i shouldnt use??...HELP....AND..... how many challenges is there to get legend of the west outfit....Thanks alot!
