General question about opticians......?
Sometimes they are set both ways. Normally they are first recorded in an appointment book. The reason for this is during busy periods through out the day it is easier to record an appointment on paper than to depend on a slow computer to load the appointment book. After appointments are recorded and all information is taken, which includes: name, birthdate, if you have been see with them before, if it is for eyegles or contacts, if you have insurance and if you do more info must be collected etc, we enter it into the computer. Some places take appointments scheduled online. In order to not double book you must make sure all taken spots are logged in the computer to avoid online appointments taking already scheduled appointments. As for the information that is stored, your prescription and doctors exam notes are stored in a file that is placed alphebetically in a filing cabinet, insurance information including social security numbers and other personal info is shredded, and any purchase is recorded in the point of sale computer. Hope this helped.
