Problem with Titan's Mitt in Zelda: Link to the Past?

In the thieves hideout area where Blind is there is the big treasure chest that has the Titan's Mitt in it. On mine its already been opened and there is obviously nothing in it. I looked in my inventory and it isn't there either. Is there anyway for me to somehow get it back? Or do I have to restart my game?
